Description

Hi,

the page should note that 9869 is the port used to connect to sunstone
It should also mention the credentials for sunstone, since it seems to not be root / opennebula
How is that supposed to work for new users?
They wanna try out Sunstone, but can't.
They might figure to try SSH login, and then what?

Two more things:
- Download server is really slow by todays standards
- Why not a VMWare appliance instead have every user go through the vm creation?

Hello Florian,

thanks for the feedback.

the page should note that 9869 is the port used to connect to sunstone

you're right, fixing

It should also mention the credentials for sunstone, since it seems to not be root / opennebula
How is that supposed to work for new users?
They wanna try out Sunstone, but can't.
They might figure to try SSH login, and then what?

They can find those credentials in the guide pointed by step 4 (http://opennebula.org/cloud:sandboxtestdrive)

Two more things:
- Download server is really slow by todays standards

I agree, but unfortunately it's a matter of available resources

- Why not a VMWare appliance instead have every user go through the vm creation?

We already provide a VMWare appliance which works in the exact same way. There's also a KVM image and an Amazon ami they can use:

I'm closing the ticket since I understand all your suggestions are available, but please feel free to reopen it if you don't agree.

Hi, actually the "cloud:sandboxtestdrive" guide says that the sunstone port is 9869, so I'm not going to add it to the first virtualbox page.

Close top the point...

They can find those credentials in the guide pointed by step 4 (http://opennebula.org/cloud:sandboxtestdrive)

yep, but the page mentions "you can log in at 127.0.0.1" and so I immediately tried. You can't know it's done on the next page since you haven't seen it yet.
You're in step 4 "take a test drive" and given an IP, plus a link to the right page.
This isn't a big thing of course but the testing should be the best documented area imho.

Last item I have a typo, I meant "why isn't there a real Virtualbox appliance when you have it i.e. for VMWare."
Take it as a suggestion, it looks incoherent.

D/L speed should I make a ticket for "how to become a mirror"?
Seems there is nothing to that end and many people have a few TB on fast servers to spare.

I understand what you mean, and I agree. However we want users to visit the cloud:sandboxtestdrive guide, so I did something in between. I explained further that the IP will be useful inside the guide.

I also agree with the real VirtualBox appliance suggestion. We'll do that for the next version of the sandbox.
